Current Research Experiments

My name is Kimberly Meigh, and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at West Virginia University. I am looking for research subjects to participate in a speech production research study that will evaluate how well you can speak a novel word with varying stress patterns.

You will be asked to repeat fake words while trying to achieve a particular loudness (or stress) level. You will also be asked to complete a judgment task where you decide if a spoken fake word is familiar to you or not. This study will take no more than 3.5 hours to complete in a single session. All research will be conducted in Allen Hall at West Virginia University. Participants will receive a $20 gift card for completing this study. WVU IRB approval on file.

To participate, you must meet the following criterion: 18-35 years of age, minimum of high school diploma (or equivalent), native speaker of English, and have normal hearing and speech skills. Please call me at 304-293-3127 or email at speechmotor@gmail.com for further details.
